The New Tatts Hotel in Lismore has been the go to venue for many in the Northern NSW region for when they want to get their dose of live music and now, local and interstate bands have come together to play a benefit gig to help the historic pub after it sustained damage in the floods earlier this year.

Kelly Ross, head of Pulpitation Music Promotions in Brisbane, has raised her hand to tackle the task of putting on an epic, three day show across Lismore and Brisbane that will feature over fifty bands with the aim to raise money for the publicans Rod and Kim Bradbury.

The shows will be held across the first weekend in June, with the gig in Brisbane to be held Friday June 2nd from 6pm and the Lismore show also kicking off on the Friday and running until Sunday June 4th.

I was motivated to do the benefit event after seeing the damage the floods inflicted on the Lismore community along with the New Tatts Hotel. I didn’t want to see yet another live music venue have to close its doors. There are a lot of bands that have fond memories of playing at the New Tatts Hotel over the years who would be devastated to see it go,” says Ross.

The hotel sustained a substantial amount of damage after water rose to six and a half feet throughout the venue, claiming over $700,000 worth of damage.

“So much has been lost including furniture, fixtures, stock, sound gear and pokie machines. The cellar was completely underwater which houses the cold room and the beer system. We are back to bare cement, bubbled paint, bare wooden floors with unsalvageable sound gear including stage, mixers, equalisers, subwoofers and speakers,” says Ross.

It’s quite a mess.

But the heavy music community has come together to help in any way they can and even though this gig was never going to be easy, it further shows the determination and drive that this community has in the face of adversity.

Putting together this benefit gig was never going to be easy, but we had an overwhelming amount of bands that wanted to play at the three day event, with over fifty acts performing at the New Tatts Hotel and seven acts performing at Club Greenslopes in Brisbane on the same weekend, this event will need a team of great people to make the weekend run as smooth as it possibly can,” explains Ross.

But if anyone can do it, it will be Ross and her team at Pulpitation Music Promotions.

Pulpitation Music Promotions hopes to see you there, to raise money for this great cause.
