Prepare your heartstrings; irresistible Melbourne foursome SLOWLY SLOWY return today, energised by an east coast tour with Ceres. Slow-burning new single ‘Aliens’ is lifted from their forthcoming sophomore LP.

Slowly Slowly’s frontman Ben Stewart is an arresting and fascinating figure. This exemplary songwriter has knack for making the banal very beautiful via moving, vintage style indie-rock songs. On ‘Aliens’, this is complemented by the sparkle and shimmer of the DIY production, building just to the precipice of bust. Slowly Slowly mastered this effect on previous singles PMTWGR and Ivy on the Fence Line. It’s this skill that has blissed out audiences engaging in mass, arms-rasied singalongs every time these guys play live.

Ben Steward elaborates, “the song is a stream of consciousness, equal parts self-loathing and self-pity. I wrote it in my car on my phone in about 4 minutes. I guess that’s why it kind of sucks.” It’s this brand of self-effacing fallibility that makes Slowly Slowly such a likable, organic rock act that they inspires fanatical adoration. They’ve simmered through growing whispers of greatness following their 2016 debut LP ‘Chamomile’, which The AU Review called “a wonderful collection” and Kill Your Stereo branded “fucking good”.

Pre-order a 7″ featuring two versions of ‘Aliens’ plus ‘Dinosaurs’ (Live from Preston) now via the Slowly Slowly Bandcamp page.

We’re living through a renaissance of multidimensional Australian pop rock at the moment, and Slowly Slowly are primed to propel themselves to the forefront with their new LP, due early 2018. Catch the boys at their biggest headline show to date to launch ‘Aliens’ next month…
