Australian melodic death metal heavyweights Ætherial are streaming their brand new album The Still Waters Of Oblivion right now via Soundcloud!
“The recording process was a little unorthodox in the sense that is was recorded entirely by Shep and myself over a two year period.
We weren’t in a rush, we just wanted to make sure that everything thing turned out how we envisaged,” explains bassist Cassandra George.
The band recorded in Melbourne at Everland Productions and worked with good friend Oresti Salter, who they brought on to mix and master the record.
The album overall explores the darkest recesses of the soul; exposing what is lurking behind the false reality of everyday life. It’s a stark look beyond the restraints of social and cultural boundaries and examines forces surrounding and influencing the human condition.
“We were inspired by our own experiences and outlook on the world, it is a dark record but still remains hopeful,” says George of the themes in the songwriting.
The artwork was designed by Patrick Wittstock of Azreal Design (Heaven Shall Burn, Die Apokalyptischen Reiter, Whitechapel) in Germany and Ætherial were stoked to work with him on their vision.
“The artwork and visual concepts were created by Patrick Wittstock, who also does a lot of work for several of our favourite bands. It was fantastic to work with him and see our visions come to life with his talents,” says George.
The Still Waters of Oblivion is due for release tomorrow (November 10th) and will be available through the Truth Inc Records store and the Ætherial bandcamp page as well as all the usual outlets.
