One of the biggest names in rock throughout the 2000’s, Good Charlotte is coming back and is looking to WOW the crowd in the inaugural Download Festival Melbourne 2018. Many people know the music and the names behind the band so it would be crazy not to include them in the stellar line-up that gives us just a taste of all the things to come.

Forming back in 1998, the Maryland rockers have been a major player in the music scene for the good part of almost 20 years. Many don’t remember they’re debut self-titled album from the year 2000 which contained singles ‘Little Things’ and ‘Festival Song’ as the follow-up album The Young and the Hopeless was the must have album of 2002. With the number one hit ‘Lifestyles of the Rich and the Famous’, Good Charlotte became a regular name on the radio and in the charts worldwide. With other hits such as ‘The Anthem’ and ‘Boys and Girls’, the album hit triple platinum and from that day on, there was no stopping the Madden brothers and Good Charlotte.

The bands third album Chronicles of Life and Death brought the hits ‘I Just Wanna Live’ and ‘Predictable’ yet couldn’t live up to the predecessor which is commonly touted as their best album. It was with the fourth album that many metal fans couldn’t help but get into. Good Morning Revival brought the rock and metal world together with ‘The River’ which featured Avenged Sevenfold’s vocalist Matt Shadows and lead guitarist Synyster Gates which had the stylings of the classic Good Charlotte with the heaviness of Avenged Sevenfold thrown in for good measure.

The bands album Cardiology however brought on a four year hiatus for the Madden brothers as they decided to go on their own for bit under their own style (as well as have Joel Madden join The Voice Australia). Reuniting in 2015 with Youth Authority, Good Charlotte was back and here to prove why they were one of the biggest names of the 2000’s.

With the catalog as diverse as theirs, we’re bound to be in for a treat. With their latest release ‘War’, it also looks like we’re in for some new tunes.
