If you think the band in yesterday’s Download Melbourne feature had been around for a long time, the subject of today’s feature predates them by a couple of years!

Alongside S.O.D and D.R.I., Suicidal Tendencies have been often credited as being a father of crossover thrash; mind you this journey of fatherhood has had quite a few bumps along the way. Not only have Suicidal Tendencies released 13 studio albums and performed in numerous countries worldwide, but they also changed the face of California forever; one of the numerous gangs associated with that time frame were the Suicidal Cycos! This associated gang relation and other incidents resulted in Suicidal Tendencies actually being barred from performing in L.A until 1989 approximately, when the band’s popularity became too great and the ban was lifted.

Mike “Cyco Mike” Muir – Lead Vocals

Dean Pleasants – Lead Guitar

Jeff Pogan – Rhythm Guitar

Ra Diaz – Bass, Backing Vocals

Dave Lombardo – Drums

After having last graced our shores in December 2012, Download Melbourne breaks this drought that Australian fans have been experiencing; considering Suicidal Tendencies have released not one but two albums in that time, you can bet your left kidney that this is a set you don’t want to miss! Unless you’ve travelled overseas, this will be the first time that Australian fans will get to see songs from 13 (2013) and World Gone Mad (2016). With Suicidal Tendencies fast approaching 40 years of creating music, who knows how much longer they will be around; you’ll most definitely kick yourself if you miss this set, especially if it ends up being their last on Australian shores!
