Arch Enemy will thankfully be yet another melodic Death Metal band that will be making their way down from Sweden to deliver a highlight performance. This band has a penchant for creating perfect moments of tension and release throughout their music, which draw in fans of all kinds of Metal. They will no doubt be doing the exact same when they hit the first ever Melbourne Download Festival.
WHO ARE ARCH ENEMY?
Alissa White-Gluz – Lead vocals
Michael Amott − Guitars
Daniel Erlandsson − Drums
Sharlee D’Angelo − Bass
Jeff Loomis − Guitars
Download Festival will see Arch Enemy returning to Melbourne after an absence since 2012. This will mark the first trip to Australia with the band for both lead vocalist Alissa White-Gluz and guitarist Jeff Loomis, who both joined the band in 2014. White-Gluz has added a new level of guttural intensity to the band, with screams that sound like the apocalypse. More than that Loomis’ heavy and thick guitar playing has brought the dynamics through the roof.
On the latest album Will to Power and what the band hope to achieve with their upcoming shows, founding member Michael Amott says, “We are happy with the fact that the band has had growth spurt these last couple of years and it’s exciting to put on a bigger and more complete live show for our fans. We obviously hope our fans will enjoy Will to Power and we’re looking forward to getting back out there and performing live again, with a whole bunch of killer new tunes up our sleeve!”
Arch Enemy’s recent live shows have a shown of favouring of tunes from the aforementioned latest studio effort as well as 2014’s War Eternal. Seasoning from the rest of the band’s expansive discography (spanning 10 albums) are sure to make appearances too; who knows what they will bring to Melbourne for their long-awaited return?
