Western Sydney band Northlane have been making a huge name for themselves in Australia and rightly so as their metalcore centric music has been making waves to fans new and old.
Formed back in 2009 and signing to the UNFD label in 2011, Northlane released their first album Discoveries under UNFD and haven’t looked back. Discoveries scored them tours with August Burns Red and House Vs Hurricane that brought them out onto the bigger scene but it was the tour with Parkway Drive that brought them from the obscure scene into a band that was going to kill it in the future.
In 2013 with the release of the bands second album Singularity, Northlane hit the road with In Hearts Wake before playing their first ever major festival, Soundwave. Just before hitting the stage for Soundwave however, the video for first mainstream single ‘Quantum Flux’ released to critical appraise from fans and critics everywhere. The fun wasn’t to last long though as after playing a killer set at Big Day Out 2014 and touring with Britain’s Bring Me The Horizon throughout the US, vocalist Adrian Fitipaldes announced his departure due to health.
There was hope for Northlane when now vocalist Marcus Bridge auditioned for the band. With Marcus on board, the band hit the studio to record their third album Node which hit number one and ever garned Northlane an ARIA award for “Best Hard Rock or Heavy Metal Album” in 2015. It also secured their spot in the UK for Download Festival in 2015.
In 2016, Northlane teamed up with In Hearts Wake to collaborate on the album Equinox which also included a co-headline tour with them and supported by fellow Download Melbourne band, Ocean Grove. It wasn’t until January 2017 at Unify Festival that a new single ‘Intuition’ was announced with the new album Mesmer on the way, debuting at #3 on ARIA charts.
Now being announced for Download 2018 for both Australia and the UK, Northlane are loving the dream.
You can catch Northlane at Melbourne’s iconic Flemington Racecourse on March 24th as part of the inaugural Australian edition of Download Festival. Get your tickets HERE!
