In the wake of releasing their Shared Visions debut full-length last week, New Jersey-based prog metal trio GYRE is booking tour dates for the summer months supporting the album. Produced by Kevin Antreassian (The Dillinger Escape Plan), Shared Visions is an explosive and dynamic album that transcends simplistic genre categorization.

Traces of electronic, world, and folk music that are in constant motion just under the surface of GYRE‘s output. Shared Visions surges with metallic grooves in the vein of Mastodon and Mutoid Man, infusing the progressive tendencies of Lazer/Wulf and Russian Circles, with a modern rock edge fans of Baroness, Queens Of The Stone Age, and Muse will appreciate.

GYRE now takes the tunes from Shared Visions to the road across the Northeastern states this summer. In July the band will play Kingston, New York on the 13th, Clifton, New Jersey on the 22nd, and Brooklyn, New York on the 27th. August sees them back in Upstate New York for Battle Candle Fest in Warwick on the 4th, followed by a show in York, Pennsylvania on the 18th. More shows are being booked and more widespread touring is to be expected in the months ahead.

Shared Visions is available digitally through the band now; stream and order the album HERE.

Watch for a physical version of the record to be released in the coming months. Also see the videos for “Weaving Blind” and “Wanting More” at THIS LOCATION.

Decibel Magazine offered of GYRE‘s output, “The band have a knack for crafting captivating prog without devolving into overly-technical showboating, instead opting for melody and memorable riffing.” Metal Injection posted, “The best way I can describe the track is I’d imagine it’s what you get if Mastodon and Mutoid Man had a kid that was also raised by Baroness and occasionally Gojira.”

MetalSucks said, “it’s everything fans wanted and everything not-yet-fans didn’t know they wanted but will be thrilled to hear. It’s heavy and melodic, it’s proggy but not in a navel gazing kind of way, and it melds a wide array of influences without sounding schizophrenic. Think Crack The Skye-era Mastodon, but somehow both heavier and poppier, and you have some idea what you’re in for.” Svbterranean stated, “With its throttling rhythms, rock swagger, prog flair and technical proficiency, GYRE‘s Shared Visions is an eclectic metal tour de force. Officially out today, the New Jersey trio’s full-length debut combines the best elements of modern metal and rock with nods to Mastodon, Mutoid Man, and more.”

GYRE was formed by members of defunct metallic hardcore outfit Junta. Following three well-received EPs, nearly two years of sculpting, chiseling, and capturing ideas went into GYRE‘s Shared Visions. Returning to a three-piece as the band was founded, the members’ chemistry is at an all-time high, the current lineup having created more music together in less time than ever before. With a certain ease, a fever dream, the members have pushed to become one seamless entity in the delivery of their songcraft.

With fifty minutes of multi-textured explosive music, GYRE‘s Juan Soaz recorded and produced Shared Visions, after which the band once again worked with Kevin Antreassian of The Dillinger Escape Plan at his Backroom Studios to mix and master the album. Although outside influences are abundant, the main ingredient in their creations is an understanding of what each individual song is calling for; it’s about listening to what feels right and making good decisions that serve the song. It’s been quite the journey to get to this point of clarity, but the equation is simple — a shared vision amongst friends.
