Godsmack and Shinedown lit up the Wells Fargo Arena this Sunday night in Des Moines Iowa! Co-headling a summer tour, rock band Godsmack together with Shinedown pounded the Midwest. With a string of shows lined up, their stop in Des Moines was their 3rd Midwestern date. They’ve hit Indiana and Illinois previously on the tour.
Godsmack recently released a new single, Bulletproof from their most recent album When Legends Rise, which you can purchase HERE.

Shinedown is an American rock band from Jacksonville, Florida. Forming in 2001. Current band members are; Brent Smith, Barry Kerch, Zach Myers, and Eric Bass. The bands most notable songs include; Heroes, Save Me, I Dare You, Devour, Sound of Madness, Second Chance, The Crow & The Butterfly, If You Only Knew, Adrenaline, Bully, Unity, Cut The Cord, State Of My Head, and How Did You Love.
On May 4th, 2018 the band released their sixth album, Attention! Attention! With their first single to drop from the new album, “Devil”. Shinedown are currently signed to Atlantic Records and you can get their music HERE
Shinedown’s set began with their intro music which included the songs, “The End” by My Chemical Romance and “Sabotage” by The Beastie Boys! When the massive white curtain fell, the show started off with a bang! Literally! In fact, for the remainder of their set there were explosives, fog, and pyro! Now this was what we came to see! A rock show! The arena was almost filled to capacity, with the crowd showing enthusiasm for what was bestowed upon them! The band did not disappoint! Spewing out intense vocals with leaps and jumps from guitarists and dreadlock heading banging from drummer, Barry Kerch!
Shinedown satisfied our curiousity about their new music by playing a few new songs for us from Attention! Attention! Vocalist Smith asked the audience “hey, are we good? You gotta tell me ladies and gentlemen! You requested it and so you shall receive!” They went on to play one of their new songs, Black Soul! The new songs seemed heavier hitting then their previous releases. Smith went on to say, later in the show, “Lets do something different! Let’s change the mood! When you walked in tonight, did you realize that you were holding magic in the palm of your hand? Take out your cell phones out and shine! Des Moines let’s make some magic! Let’s dance! The band went into playing State Of My Head, and Smith stated, “See? Magic!”
Toward the end of their set, their second to the last song was their awesome cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Simple man”. Guitarist, Zach Myers and vocalist Smith played the song acoustically from a mini stage set up behind the sound board in the general admission area. It was a majestic performance! Smith got the audience involved by stopping the music and having the crowd sing the lyrics all along with the cell phone lights waving throughout the venue. Smith and Myers were escorted back to the stage for one last song of the night, “Devil” The show ended in a fiery show of stage fireworks and pyro!
Godsmack began their half of the show by getting the crowd pumped up to Cypress Hill’s “Rock Superstar”. Which inevitably got everyone’s head’s bobbing and pumped! When their . curtain dropped they went into playing “When Legends Die” The band and the audience could barely stand still for the massive amount of energy that Godsmack were releasing! Of course, they too, like Shinedown before them, had to include lots of napalm explosions and fireworks!
During the show vocalist Erna, asked, (paraphrasing) “Are you still with us? Are you sure? I appreciate you hearing what I say! You looking f***ing great! You sound really f***ing great right now! We’re missing one thing! Just one little tiny thing! Turn on the spotlight! I want to see every f***ing one of you! Guys, I want you to look around you! There are so many beautiful girls around you! You guys are lucky!”
