Skinnyfish Music sadly acknowledges the passing of the lead guitarist of The Lonely Boys in a motor vehicle accident on Sunday.
The six-piece Indigenous punk rock band gained national attention after being selected to support Queens of the Stoneage during their 2017 Darwin concert where they played in front of over 3000 fans. They also took out NT Rock Song of the Year in 2016 with ‘Murray Island’ from their acclaimed EP ‘The Hunter’.
He was much loved by his community and throughout wider South East Arnhem Land. He was always a feature at The Barunga Festival and had strength of character and a sharp wit that would charm anyone from local Ngukurr family to Adam Briggs and Josh Homme.
Our label will miss him dearly as will the vast NT music industry and we send our heartfelt condolences to his family.
In memorial, the family ask that the media not name him or show his face (including video footage), but respectfully suggest the playing of his track “Murray Island”.
