Tool singer Maynard James Keenan has given a ‘ballpark’ release date for the new album of ‘between mid-May and mid-July.’

Keenan tweeted the news today, saying they were ‘midway through mixing’, there would ‘most likely be a few recalls, then some arguing, then mastering, artwork, video, special packaging etc.’

He then offered his ‘best ballpark guess’ of a ‘release date somewhere between mid-May and mid-July.’

Keenan finished by saying there will be ‘more focused updates to follow as we progress.’

It’s one of the most concrete timelines offered for the new album, and coupled with the fact the band have so far confirmed 18 summer shows in the US and Europe – including Download, Hellfest and Rock Am Ring – fans can probably get legitimately excited now.

The last Tool album, ‘10,000 Days’, was released in 2006.
